Bridgetown – BARBADOS – The newly established Crown Events Inc. announced on Saturday May 14, 2016 that it has acquired the rights to produce the national event to send a contestant to the prestigious Miss Universe® pageant for 2016.

“As the new owner of the Miss Universe® license in Barbados, I am extremely honored, and very proud in the trust and confidence placed in us by Ms. Paula Shugart and her entire team at the Miss Universe® Organization”, a WME | IMG company. Our goal is to change the culture of how Barbados and Barbadians interact with this franchise – said Brian A.M. Green, The new National Director for the franchise.

The official name of the contest will be Miss Universe® Barbados and will change the culture of the Miss Universe Pageant in Barbados, offering a very unique opportunity to the contestants, with image building, health & fitness, beauty and confidence seminars, combined with a myriad of social and corporate networking commitments. The pageant intends to become the opportunity for the young ladies of Barbados to truly become “Confidently Beautiful.

Miss Universe® Barbados franchise intends to promote the empowerment of young women throughout the country, as well as being strong advocates for those talents in the fashion, health, and beauty industries.

One major difference is that we will be hosting Open Castings for the delegates. There will be no more closed-door selection of ladies. All ladies 18-27 with a valid Barbadian passport, who meet the MISS UNIVERSE® requirements, are welcome to enter.

During the next days we will be announcing our commercial partnerships, as well as the entire procedure for potential contestants and the general public. A new era has begun!
